Maui Lani Brushfire Burns 2 Acres

A brush fire near the Maui Lani Golf Course burned an estimated two acres before being brought under control on Monday afternoon.

The fire was first reported at around 5:15 p.m. at the Maui Lani Parkway and driveway to the Maui Lani Golf Course.

Authorities say the blaze burned up to the edge of the road and came within 50-feet from the nearest homes.

Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga said there was one spot where the fire burned on the mauka side of the road, but it was quickly extinguished.

The blaze was brought under control at 6 p.m., and extinguished after 8 p.m.

There were no monetary damages or injuries, and the cause of the fire was undetermined at last report.

Units responding to the scene included Engine-10, Tanker-10, HazMat-10, Engine-1, Mini-1, Air-1, and Battalion Chief 3.
