A Hana man was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center with serious injuries he sustained after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Medic 6 from Hana was dispatched to Keanini Road in Hana for reports of a male party that had been struck by a vehicle, officials said.

When medics arrived on scene at 3:16 a.m., on Saturday, August 25, 2012,  they found a Hana man in his 30s with multiple traumatic injuries to his arms and head, said Maui County Paramedics Association spokesperson, Ryan Joslin.

Because of weather conditions, the patient could not be Medevaced, and was transported instead by ground ambulance to an awaiting trauma team at the Maui Memorial Medical Center, Joslin said.

While en-route, the man received pre-hospital trauma life support care by an attending paramedic, officials said.

Others responding to the scene included the Maui Fire Department’s Engine 7 and multiple police units.
