Saint Louis Routs Baldwin at Aloha Stadium, 46-0

Saint Louis School quarterback Kawai Mook-Garcia made an impressive 2012 debut Saturday, throwing for four touchdowns and running for another as the sixth-ranked Crusaders routed 10th-ranked Baldwin, 46-0.

Mook-Garcia sat out the Crusaders’ 39-33 loss to Farrington on Aug. 16 for disciplinary reasons. Eager to be back, Mook-Garcia wasted little time making an impact on the game as the 5-foot-11, 180-pound senior connected with Ricky Ahlo-Pinera for a 19-yard scoring toss on the Crusaders first offensive play from scrimmage.

Baldwin help set the table for Saint Louis’ first score when the snap from center sailed over the punter’s head on Baldwin’s first drive.

Saint Louis scored on every possession in the first half. Mook-Garcia, who completed 11 of 17 pass attempts for 153 yards, threw touchdown passes to four different receivers, not including Jeremy Tabuyo, the state’s top wide receiver prospect who has already committed to Texas A&M.

Devan Stubblefield hauled in a 29-yard touchdown pass, Jerrick Taboada caught a 17-yarder and K inoa Abreu got credit for a 17-yard touchdown catch. In between his four TD passes, Mook-Garcia rushed for a touchdown and finished with five carries for 23 yards.

Saint Louis finished with 287 yards of offense compared to Baldwin’s minus-45 yards. The Crusaders led 33-0 at halftime.

Baldwin never got untracked offensively, struggling to execute the center snap, which accounted for minus-87 yards. In 27 plays, Baldwin had a net rushing of minus-103 yards.

Baldwin quarterback Keelan Ewaliko played just two offensive series. He was held to minus-2 yards rushing on six carries, completing one of two pass attempts for 15 yards. Ewaliko left the game in the first quarter, nursing his ribs after suffering a late hit by the Crusaders. He walked off the field on his own and was later taken to Pali Momi Medical Center to have x-rays taken.

Fortunately for the Bears, Ewaliko was diagnosed with bruise ribs. His status for Baldwin’s MIL 2012 debut on Saturday, Sept. 1, against Maui High at War Memorial Stadium, is listed as questionable.

Saint Louis put the game in mercy rule with 9:21 to play in the third quarter and capped the scoring on a 98-yard pass play from backup quarterback Ryder Kuhns to Jordan Eugenio.
