Maui Democratic Party Members Attend National Convention

State Senate President Shan Tsutsui of Maui is among a six-member delegation from the Maui Democratic Party that will attend the National Democratic Convention next week in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“I look forward to spreading the spirit of aloha in Charlotte and representing our state at the Convention. It is important that the White House remains Democratic so we can continue to pursue an agenda that assists working families, especially since our economy has not yet fully recovered. Most importantly, don’t forget to vote on November 6,” said Tsutsui.
Ohter official party delegates from Maui who will cast votes on behalf of Hawai’i include Dottie Binder, Hope Busto-Keys, Loretta Giannotti, Michelle Sewell, and Mary Wagner.
The Convention begins on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. The purpose, Maui Democratic Party representatives say, is to officially select President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joseph R. Biden as the party’s nominees for president and vice-president.
Todd Craine, chairman of the Maui Democratic Party, although not attending, expressed his excitement about the event saying, “this Convention will give our party a great opportunity to come together and develop the momentum we need to ensure the reelection of President Obama and Vice-President Biden in November.”
“I am glad that we have strong representatives from Maui attending the Convention,” said Craine.
