Makawao Water Shut Off Planned

Water service to customers in parts of Makawao will be turned off for about six hours on Wednesday as crews conduct pipe line maintenance work.

Officials with the Maui Department of Water Supply say the shut off will take place between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2012.

Areas affected by the maintenance work will include: Mokuahi Street, Pokole Place, Maha Road, Aina Manu Place, N. Makaleha Place, S. Makaleha Place, Maohu Street, Mailuna Place, Mamalu Place, Ukiu Road, Pahala Street, Mahanani Place, Hoomahana Place, and Paipala Place.

During the work schedule, Maha Road will be limited to one lane traffic only. Ukiu Road will be closed to all traffic from Maohu Street to Maha Road.

Residents are asked to fill containers with enough water adequate for their needs prior to the shut off event.

Customers are asked to call the 24-hour service line (270-7633) only if a water problem occurs.
