“The FBI can now conduct a thorough investigation into the photos that prompted this inquiry,” said FBI Honolulu Special Agent, Tom Simon.

The suspect first came to the FBI’s attention in 2010 when a series of photographs surfaced on the internet depicting the man allegedly engaging in graphic sex acts with two children, according to information released by the FBI yesterday.

Authorities say the man may have been living on the Big Island of Hawai’i between 2008 and 2010 based on enhanced photographs.

The agency released a photograph and informational poster yesterday in the hopes that new leads would surface via social media.

Although an identification has been made, it is not being released at this time.  As of this morning, there had been no charges filed or arrests made in the case.

“If our investigation culminates in criminal charges, we will make an announcement at that time,” said SA Simon.

Given the sensitivity of the situation, and the FBI’s stated desire to conduct a proper investigation, further details are pending release.

“The public is reminded that the individual from yesterday’s release is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law,” said SA Simon.
