Maui police do no suspect foul play, but say they have not yet ruled it out either in the death of a Kahana woman who’s body was found earlier this month on the grounds of the Kahana Manor condominium complex in West Maui.

The unattended death investigation was initiated on Thursday, October 11, 2012, when the body of the 40-year-old woman was found by another resident, who said the woman appeared to be sleeping.

Authorities were dispatched at 4:04 a.m. when a resident manager responded and found the woman to be unresponsive.

Authorities said there were no outward signs of injury, but further investigation determined the woman suffered extensive internal injuries consistent with a possible fall.

The woman was a resident of the fifth floor and had made several calls to family members prior to being found the following morning, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
