Mauian Found Near-Dead, Bound with Duct Tape

Maui police have launched an attempted homicide investigation into the discovery of a Kihei man found bound with duct tape and unresponsive this morning at his residence in Kihei.

Kihei patrol officers responding to the scene, found the 59-year-old resident manager of the Koa Lagoon Condominiums within his unit at 9:27 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012.

According to police reports, the victim appeared to have sustained serious injuries to his head and facial area, and was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Maui police issued a statement at around 1:30 this afternoon saying the victim is presently listed in critical condition with bleeding and swelling of the brain.

The incident occurred at the condo complex, located at 800 South Kihei Road.

As a result, an attempted homicide investigation was initiated and is ongoing.
