Central Maui Waterline Repairs Result in Road Closures

The Maui Department of Water Supply will be conducting waterline repair work today that will affect traffic in two areas of Central Maui.

The repairs will result in the closure of a portion of Maka’ala Drive in Waiheu, and Wakea Avenue in Kahului.

Closure information includes the following:

• Maka’ala Drive in Waiehu is closed from the intersection with Hilinai Street (north side, closer to Waiehu Beach Road) to the intersection with Kilihau Street. The road should reopen by 1 p.m. today.
• Wakea Avenue in Kahului will be closed from the Ho’ohana Street intersection to the Hukilike Street intersection from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. today.

Motorists should follow signage and use detours when applicable.

Customers should call the DWS 24-hour service line at 270-7633 only if a water problem occurs.

Earlier today, there was also a water outage reported at Paia School on Maui. The outage forced the closure of the campus at around 9 a.m.
