West Maui Ridge to Reef Watershed Input Sought

The state is holding a public meeting to inform the community about a comprehensive watershed study being conducted for the West Maui “Ridge to Reef Initiative.”

The study is aimed at expanding on the work done under the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration funded Wahikuli-Honokowai watershed study for the Honokahua, Kahana, and Honolua watersheds on Maui.

The meeting, hosted by the State Department of Land and Natural Resources and US Army Corps of Engineers – Honolulu District, will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the Lahaina Civic Center.

The meeting is being held as part of the planning process to seek input on issues and concerns from affected federal, state and local agencies; Native Hawaiian organizations, individuals and practitioners; and other interested private organizations and parties.

Comments and questions from the public will be accepted as part of the meeting.
