A small fire burned a 3,500-square foot area of brush at the top of Kapunakea Street in West Maui on Tuesday.
The fire was reported at 8:18 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.
Firefighters from Ladder-3, Engine-11, and Engine-3 were dispatched to the scene and had the fire contained by 8:39 a.m.
Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga said the fire was extinguished just before 9 a.m., and was caused by downed transmission lines.
No damages or injuries were reported.
The fire followed a separate West Maui fire at the Maui Electric substation in Pu’ukoli’i reported at 6:36 a.m. That incident resulted in an estimated one million dollars damage to a mobile transformer.
