Hawaii Plans to Name New Athletic Director Friday
The University of Hawai’i plans to name a new athletic director Friday, according to a press release sent to the media from the Chancellor’s office.
UH Mānoa Chancellor Tom Apple “is in the process of performing due diligence on this very important decision. We hope to issue a media advisory with the announcement of Chancellor Apple’s selection on Friday, December 7. No press conference is planned.”
The two finalists are Ben Jay and Solomon “Solly” Fulp.
Jay, the Ohio State Senior Associate Athletics Director, is also the Chief Financial Officer in Columbus, overseeing a budget of more than $100 million per year.
Fulp is the Deputy Director of Athletics at Cal-Berkeley and currently oversees marketing and business development efforts at the school.
Apple will name either Jay or Fulp as the replacement for Jim Donovon who was reassigned in July following a botched Stevie Wonder concert.
