Maui Electric Company crews continue to investigate the cause of a power outage in East Maui that knocked out electricity for about 23 minutes this afternoon.

The outage was first reported at 1:17 p.m., and all areas affected by the outage had power restored by 1:40 p.m., according to company officials.

Areas affected included Pukalani, Makawao, Haiku, and Keanae to Hana.

More information on the cause will be provided when more information as it becomes available.

MECO officials apologized for the inconvenience and thanked the public for their understanding and patience.

A power outage occurred at approximately 1:17 p.m. affecting the areas of Pukalani, Makawao, Haiku, and Keanae to Hana. MECO crews are en route to investigate and an update will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.
