High Tech Maui Presents Social Media Boot Camp

High Tech Maui, a program of the Maui Economic Development Board, and social media consultant Peter Liu are teaming up again for the first Social Media Boot Camp of 2013 to be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.

Business owners and entrepreneurs who are new to social media, or just starting to think about an overall social media strategy for their business will benefit from this workshop. This workshop offers a high level view of the entire social media landscape and provides all the tools necessary to craft a strategy that works for you and your business.

The following topics will be covered in the workshop:

1. Getting started in social media for your business: a) what is social media?; b) general principles and mindsets; c) the anatomy of a social media strategy; d) do’s and don’t’s; and e) social media etiquette;

2. Why your website and your blog are the same thing: a) introduction to the blog as the website; and b) where your blogsite fits into the overall landscape of your social media strategy;

3. High level introduction to the current popular social networks—setting up accounts, profile management and basic best practices in: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google+; and

4. High level tour of some of the more popular social media apps on the iPhone and iPad.

The presenter, Peter Liu, is a social media consultant on Maui.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Malcolm Center in the Maui Research and Technology Park in Kihei. The cost is $65 and includes lunch. Seating is limited.
