Northwest Swell Brings Elevated Surf of 14-18 Feet

A northwest swell will continue to generate elevated surf along the north and west facing shores today.

The National Weather Service extended a high surf advisory for the  north and west facing shores of Molokai, and the north facing shores of Maui until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5.

Forecasters from the NWS say surf along the affected north shores will be 14 to 18 feet; and 8 to 12 feet along the affected west shores.

Beach goers, swimmers and surfers should heed the advice of ocean safety officials and exercise caution in island waters.

High surf conditions can produce strong rip currents, localized beach erosion, and shore break that can make swimming difficult and dangerous along affected shorelines.
