Central Maui Lawmakers Talk Story
By Wendy Osher
State lawmakers from Central Maui will host a talk story session next weekend. Rep. Justin Woodson and Sen. Gil Keith-Agaran will provide an update on current measures that will impact the community.
Woodson, who serves as a member of the House Committee on Finance, said the House was able to negotiate roughly $89 million for the Kahului area. This, he notes in communications with constituents, is approximately 40% higher than the average amount secured.
The list reportedly includes $50 million for land acquisition for Kahului Airport; $5 million for Kahului Harbor improvements; and $22.7 million for improvements at the Maui Memorial Medical Center.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at the Pomaika’i Elementary School Cafeteria in Kahului.
In addition to his membership on the Finance Committee, Woodson is also the Vice Chair of the Housing Committee, and a member of the Health and Human Services Committees.
Keith-Agaran is a member of the Senate Ways and Means, Tourism and Hawaiian Affairs, Higher Education, and Transportation and International Affairs Committees.
