Surf will remain elevated along the north-facing shores of Maui and Molokai today, resulting in a continued high surf advisory until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory saying large north swell, combined with locally generated wind waves, will continue to produce rough surf along affected areas.

Forecasters with the NWS estimate wave heights to be in the 16- to 22-foot range.

Beach goers can expect strong rip currents and localized beach erosion.

The weather service recommends that beach goers stay out of the water and away from the shore break due to the hazardous conditions.
