Maui Charity Walk Fundraising Begins

Kick-off events begin this week as community partners form teams and begin raising funds for the upcoming Visitor Industry Charity Walk.

The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association hosts the 35th edition of the event on May 11 this year.

Last year, a record-setting 2,500 walkers gathered at the War Memorial Soccer Field and raised more than $613,000 for 84 Maui County charities, according to event organizers.

The kick-off events allow charity walk participants a chance to learn more about the event, how it works and to pick-up their information packet.

This year, kick-off events will be held at the following times and locations:

• Tuesday, April 2, at the Royal Lahaina Resort;
• Wednesday, April 3, at the Maui Beach Hotel; and
• Thursday, April 4, at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort. All three begin at 9:30 a.m.

“Our industry remains committed to providing for and positively impacting the lives of the people of Maui County,” said Lisa Paulson, executive director for the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association in a press release.

“This year, we are hoping to raise even more than last year which has enabled us to award significant and valuable funding to 84 worthy Maui County organizations,” Paulson said.
