Accessibility improvements to the visitor center parking lot near the summit of Haleakalā continue through June 6, according to an update provided by park officials.

During the construction period, parking spaces at the lot near the 9,000-foot elevation may be reduced by up to 50% during sunrise.

During daylight hours, park officials say up to 70% of parking spaces may be closed.

Any vehicles remaining in delineated construction zones after 6:45 a.m. during the construction period will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense, park officials said.

“Vehicles will be redirected by park staff if feasible and parking restrictions will be strictly enforced,” Haleakalā NPS officials said in an updated advisory.
