TSA Finds Bang Stick, Concealed Razor at Hawaiʻi Airports

The Transportation Security Administration discovered a bang stick and concealed razor at airports in Hawaiʻi this week, according information released by the agency.

The incidents were included in the weekly blog entry posted on the agency’s website for the week ending on June 14, 2013.

According to the agency publication, a razorblade was discovered concealed in the shoe of a passenger at Honolulu International Airport.

The agency also reported finding a .44 caliber bang stick, detected in the carry-on bag of a passenger at Kona International Airport.

A bang stick is a firearm used in underwater spear fishing for protection against sharks and other aggressive animals.  According to the TSA report, the item is prohibited in carry-on bags.

The findings come a month after a hairbrush dagger was found at the Kahului Airport in May.
