A 52-year-old visitor from Whitehall, Maryland, was transported to the hospital after jumping about 30-feet into a pond in the Twin Falls area of Maui on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The woman landed on her back in the water at a pool commonly referred to as “Caveman,” said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

Fire crews from Pāʻia and rescue personnel from Kahului responded to the scene where the woman complained of lower back pain, said FS Chief Mainaga.

Firefighters reportedly secured the woman to a backboard and carried her about a quarter mile to an awaiting ambulance for transport to the hospital in stable condition.
