Company president Darryl Banks started his company in 2010 after facing a layoff as the president of a large construction company amid a downturn in the economy.

Banks, who is a native of Reno, Nevada, has 37-years of experience in the construction industry, nine of them on Maui.

Banks Pacific Construction works on a range of projects from individual residences to structural repairs of condominiums, and commercial project renovation.

Officials say the company is currently bidding on about a dozen projects.

In a statement, Banks attributed his success to multitasking and “relationship marketing,” saying he believes in taking care of his clients.
