The relocation is part of the Kahului Harbor Development Plan of July 2012, officials said.

The funds are part of a larger $26.4 million that was released for capital improvement projects and priority repairs for state facilities and highways.

In a press release statement, Tsutsui said the investments will increase the safety of residents and support the expansion of maritime activities, while creating jobs and stimulating the economy.
