Kihei Town celebrates fall with entertainment by Gail Swanson, Hot Apple Pie and Maui 8 Track Players.

Hawaii’s popular comedian and on-air personality Augie T brings his local humor to the MACC for a night of laugh-out-loud comedy.

His “Summer of LOL” tour also promises a special surprise guest.

The show starts Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the McCoy Studio Theater.

Tickets are $20 and $35 for premium seats with a meet-and-greet.

Best Reason to Deliriously Swing

John Pizzarelli, son of the renowned guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, is considered one of the greatest of jazz guitarists today.

In addition to being a musician and bandleader, Mr. Pizzarelli has been described as being “gifted with incredibly spot-on vocals that at once both dreamily croon and deliriously swing.”

Friday’s “John Pizzarelli Quartet & The Hot Club of Hulaville” show features John Pizzarelli on guitar, Martin Pizzarelli on bass, Larry Fuller on piano, and Tony Tedesco on drums.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Castle Theater.

Friday at 7:30 p.m., “Love, Sex, and the I.R.S.” opens at the Historic Iao Theater.

Maui OnStage describes the play as a cross between “I Love Lucy” and “Some Like it Hot.”

The farce tells the tale of two out of work musicians, John (Jim Oxborrow) and Leslie (Tom Althouse), who have been cheating on their taxes for years, claiming to be a married couple. When an investigation ensues, Leslie must disguise himself as a woman.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays beginning Friday, Sept. 27 through Oct. 6 at the Historic Iao Theater.

Reserved seating tickets range from $17 to $28 (plus applicable fees).

Best Reason to Spend Saturday Upcountry

Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. is the St. John’s Kula Festival in Keokea (across from the park).

There will be live entertainment including George Kahumoku, Jr., food available for purchase, kids games, an auction, a quilt show and crafters. Proceeds will be shared with local non-profits Malama Family Recovery Center and A Cup of Cold Water.

Entry is $1 and kids 10 and younger are free.

Saturday night at 6 p.m. is the 12th Annual Uncle Richard Ho`opi`i Leo Ki`eki`e Falsetto Contest at the Ritz-Carlton Resort Kapalua.

As part of the Festivals of Aloha you can listen as competitors vie for the title.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and the event requires either a Festivals of Aloha ribbon or a $5 entrance fee at the door.

What began in 2010 as an anniversary commemoration of the death of John Bonham – considered by many to be one of the greatest drummers of all time – Maui’s annual Zeptember event has grown into a full-fledged rock concert.

Now in its fourth year, the Led Zeppelin tribute show will take over Wailea on Saturday for a single night of music presented by over 40 Maui musicians.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and tickets are $30 at the door.

On Saturday night, Broadway’s Next H!T Musical comes to the MACC’s Castle Theater.

New York City’s award-winning improvisational musical comedy awards show is an unscripted mock theatrical awards show.

The MACC reports that each show is unique: master improvisers gather made up, hit song suggestions from the audience and create a spontaneous evening of music, humor, and laughter.

Each improvised song is performed and the audience votes for their favorite.

That, in turn, leads to the spontaneous creation of a full and fully improvised musical based on the winner and performed by the entire cast.

In a feat that would make most actors’ blood run cold, each fully spur-of-the-moment two-act musical comes complete with memorable characters, witty dialogue, and plot twists.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $12, $28 and $35 and half-price for kids 12 and under.
