Free Youth Basketball Clinic Featuring Celebrity Coaches

Basketball experts Nancy Lieberman and Dave Odom will lead a two-day youth basketball clinic 0n Maui this week, county officials announced.

The free clinic, organized by the County of Maui, Department of Parks and Recreation, will be held in two sessions on Oct. 22 and 23.

Nancy Liberman is a former WNBA player and Olympian; and Dave Odom is an expert coach and tournament chairman of the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational basketball tournament.

County officials say the clinic is open to both boys and girls in the 6th to 12th grade; however, only a limited number of participants per age division can be accepted.

The clinic begins on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the War Memorial and Wailuku Gyms, and ends the following day, Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Maui High School and Wailuku Gyms.

  • The schedule for the 6th to 8th grade age division will be held on Oct. 22, 4 to 5:30 p.m.; and Oct. 23, 4 to 5 p.m.
  • The session for the 9th to 12th grade division will be held on Oct. 22 fromĀ  5 to 6:30 p.m.; and Oct. 23 from 5 to 6 p.m.

Due to enrollment limitations, participants are encouraged to pre-register with, the Department of Parks and Recreation program planner, at 270-8061.
