Maui police responded to a vehicle down a 40-foot cliff in Māʻalaea this morning at around 8 a.m., police tell Maui Now.

Maui Police Lt. William Juan says the vehicle was reported stolen and there was no one within when officers responded to the scene.

The owner was reportedly notified of the incident and tow companies were responding to the scene to assess the area for removal.

The vehicle landed upside down near Mile 7 of the Honoapiʻilani Highway, about a half-mile west of the homes, beyond Māʻalaea Small Boat Harbor.
