Maui artists in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to enter a contest in which winners will have their artwork on permanent display at the Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Entries are being sought that depict the theme, “Share the Aloha” via subject matter that can include landscapes, seascapes, animals, people, and other positive ideas that the artist envisions.

A total of 20 pieces of art will be selected for the permanent installment–with 10 each coming from the K-5 and 6 through 12 grade age groups.

“This will be our third contest and we’ve found that our children’s artwork displays really uplift our patients and staff,” said Carol Clark, MMMC director of communications.

“Their artwork contributes in providing a calm and healing presence in our hospital, and is an inspiration for all of us,” said Clark.

Entries must measure 24-inches by 36-inches (either horizontal or vertical); any media will be accepted including watercolor, oil, crayon, acrylic, etc.; and poster board or paper must be no more than one quarter inch thick.

Entry forms are available online, and the deadline to enter is Jan. 15, 2014.

Entries may be dropped off to Maui Memorial Medical Center Ambulatory Care Center, on the first floor of the new Kahului Tower, Monday to Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
