By Maui Now Staff
The Hawai‘i Health Connector has extended its enrollment deadline from December 23, to December 24, 2013, in an effort to accommodate the high demand in last-minute enrollments.
The extension is in line with a federal announcement made on Monday.
According to a Connector announcement, individuals and families who select a health plan through the Connector and complete the enrollment process by the new deadline will receive coverage that begins January 1, 2014.
The deadline for payment of the first month’s premium remains January 10, 2014.
The Hawaiʻi Health Connector is an online health insurance marketplace, created to help individuals and small businesses take advantage of the health insurance choices available to them.
It was established as a non-profit organization in 2011 by the Hawai‘i State Legislature through Act 205, in order to comply with the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, according to information posted on the hawaiihealthconnector.com website.
