The 2014 Hawaiʻi Legislative Session is scheduled to convene for opening day at 10 a.m. this Wednesday, Jan. 15, in respective chambers.
To commemorate the 55th anniversary of statehood, the Legislature will honor and acknowledge former state House and Senate members who have served throughout the years since 1959, according to a legislative press release announcement.
In the House, more than 50 former representatives are reportedly expected to attend.
Since 2014 is a second year of the biennium, the opening is expected to be a modest one, with no musical entertainment.
Following the session, legislators will have the discretion to host guests in their individual offices, the announcement said.
The opening floor sessions are open to the public, with limited seating.
