Pāʻia-Kūʻau Water Shutdown, Wednesday Jan. 15

Water customers in Pāʻia are advised of a planned water shut down this Wednesday, Jan. 15, as crews continue work on a capital improvement project to improve the system and service to the area, department officials announced.
The shutdown will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, and will affect customers from Kūpono Street to the Kūʻau area, according to information released by the Maui Department of Water Supply.
Department officials say the CIP project includes transfer of water services from the 6-inch line to the existing 12-inch line.
“The smaller line is old and subject to frequent breaks, and will no longer be used,” said Maui Department of Water Supply Administrative Officer Jacky Takakura.
During the project, crews will also work to confirm which customers are on respective lines, and may check customer hose bibs for water as part of the verification process, said Takakura.
