UPDATE: High Water Closes Remote Section Road Near Nuʻu

A remote section of road on the Piʻilani Highway (31) was closed for about three hours between Nuʻu Landing and Pāhihi Gulch in Kaupō due to high water levels running across the roadway.

The closure went into effect at around 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, and was reopened for travel at 12:42 p.m.

Also on the Maui roadways, we received a report of a tree blocking the mauka bound lane on Kekaulike Avenue in Kula near the Shofukuji Shingon Mission, above the Kula Lodge.

The tree is about 2′ in diameter according to initial reports, and was reported at around 10:18 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014.  Crews are on scene.
