Election Season Begins Monday with Candidate Filing

The 2014 election season in Hawaiʻi officially starts on Monday with the opening of the candidate filing period.
Candidates can declare candidacy through the Office of Elections between Feb. 3 and 4:30 p.m. on June 3, 2014.
A candidate’s manual is available online, containing information on nomination signature requirements, and applicable filing fees.
Candidate filing on Maui for federal, state, and county elective offices is available at the Office of the County Clerk, Elections Division office located at 200 South High Street, Room 708, in Wailuku. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Candidate filing locations for federal and state elective offices only is available at the State Office of Elections located at 802 Lehua Avenue in Pearl City on Oʻahu. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Starting April 2014, the state will also offer filing for federal and state elective offices at their satellite facility located in the Leiopapa A Kamehameha Building at the State Office Tower on South Beretania Street, Room 203, on Oʻahu.
The satellite office is open April 1 to May 15, 2014, Tuesdays and Thursdays only, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and May 19 to June 3, 2014, Monday to Friday, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For voters, the last day to register to vote in this year’s Primary Election is Thursday, July 10. The last day to request absentee mail ballots for the Primary is Saturday, Aug. 2.
The Primary Election will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, and the General Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014.
