Downed Tree Knocks Out Power to 6,700 in Haiʻkū

An estimated 6,700 customers lost power shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, when a tree brought power lines down on Haiʻkū Road near the Baldwin Estate, according to Maui Electric Company.
Power was restored to the majority of customers by 5:30 p.m, with remaining customers brought back online at about 7:30 p.m.

The incident forced the temporary closure of Haiʻkū Road between Paʻuwela Road and Kalanikahua Place, due to the downed tree that was blocking both lanes of travel.
