Local Children’s Author to Read Her New Book at Makawao Library

Toddlers and young readers are invited to hear local author Gill (“Jill”) McBarnet read her new counting and colors book, The Rainbow Mermaids of Hawaiʻi,” at the Makawao Public Library on Thursday, March 12, at 10 a.m.

She will also read from a selection of her other books.

After the reading, McBarnet will offer coloring activities for the little ones.

McBarnet is best known for “Goodnight Gecko,” as well as well as her other books about whales, sharks, dolphins and turtles.

She has written 13 books to date, including her best-selling “Whale Who Wanted to be Small,” “Shark Who Learned a Lesson,” “Brave Little Turtle” and Gecko Hide & Seek.
