East Shore Surf 6-10 Feet on Maui, Molokaʻi

(UPDATE: 4/18/14) The National Weather Service has extended a high surf advisory for the east facing shores of Maui and Molokaʻi until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2014, with surf expected to be in the 6 to 10 foot range.

Surf along the east facing shores of Maui and Molokaʻi is expected to be in the 8 to 12 foot level, prompting a high surf advisory by the National Weather Service.

While surf remains elevated along east facing shores, the agency cancelled the advisory that was in effect for the north facing shores of both islands.

The advisory level surf will produce rip currents, localized beach erosion, and will make swimming difficult and dangerous along affected shores, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS forecast for today calls for gradual weakening of trade winds with an increase in shower activity expected for Maui and Hawaiʻi Island late in the week and into the weekend.
