UPDATE: The National Weather Service has extended the wind advisory for the Island of Lānaʻi until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
A wind advisory has been extended for the island of Lānaʻi as high pressure filling over the state continues to produce strong northeast trades, according to information compiled by the National Weather Service.
NWS forecasters say the island will see sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts upwards of 50 mph.
The advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014.
As a precaution, the agency advised the public to use extra caution, noting that winds can bring down tree branches and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
