The National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory for the east facing shores of Maui and Molokaʻi until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014.

Forecasters with the NWS say surf is expected to be in the 6 to 9 foot range along the east facing shores, and will produce rip currents, and localized beach erosion.

The agency also anticipates strong breaking waves, and shore break that will make swimming difficult and dangerous along affected coastlines.

As a precaution, swimmers and beach goers are advised to heed the advice of ocean safety officials, and exercise caution.

The advisory is also in effect for the east facing shores of Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, and the Big Island of Hawaiʻi for the same period.
