Maui police are seeking the public’s help with information involving a car break-in and theft of thousands of dollars worth of gems from a vehicle over the weekend parked in front of Whole Foods in Kahului.

The incident was reported at around 4:54 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2014.

Maui police say 16 assorted cut gems were taken, primarily sapphires and emeralds worth an estimated $5,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Maui Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Division at 244-6425 during business hours or Central Dispatch at 244-6400, after hours.
