Kahului Structure Fire Causes $11K Damage

A structure fire in Kahului on Memorial Day caused $11,500 to a detached shed.
The incident was reported shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday, May 26, at a home located at 538 Māʻalo Street.
Fire officials say crews from Kahului and Wailuku arrived on scene to find a 10 foot by 15 foot detached shed, approximately 75% involved in fire.
According to department reports, the fire was quickly brought under control within a few minutes, and no injuries were reported.
Authorities say a fire inspector investigating deemed the fire as accidental with damages to the structure estimated at $2,500 and damage to its contents estimated at $9,000.
