Unscheduled Cane Fire Burns 4 Acres on Holomua Road

Maui fire crews are investigating the cause of an unscheduled cane burn in Hamakuapoko on Memorial Day.

The incident was reported at 6:59 p.m. on Monday, May 26, on Holomua Road, about a mile and a half above the old Maui High School campus.

Fire officials say approximately four acres of cane were burned before the fire was brought under control at 8:03 p.m.

According to department reports, there were no structures threatened.  Crews responding to the scene included fire companies from Pāʻia and Kahului.
