“Magic in Makawao” at Third Friday Town Party

The “Makawao Third Fridays” block party takes on a magical theme theme of “Magic in Makawao.”

The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2014, and features a comedy and magic show by Brenton Keith & His Bag O’Tricks, Stilt walking by Melissa Bruck, and music by Chop Suey Jazz Orchestra.

Other activities include face-painting, balloon animals, food trucks and booths, gifts, and vendor booths.

Baldwin Avenue will be closed between Brewer Road and Makawao Avenue,
between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m., to accommodate the festivities.

Event parking is available at: the Makawao Base Yard (Across from St. Joseph’s Church); Makawao Hongwanji; two parking lots on Brewer Road; Makawao Municipal Parking Lot on Makawao Ave near the Library; and at the Komoda Store parking lot.

Entertainment Lineup:

  • 6 to 7:45 p.m.: Chop Suey Jazz Orchestra;
  • 7:45 to 8:45 p.m.: Brenton Keith & His Bag O’Tricks; and
  • 7 to 9 p.m.: DJ Blast with Chilltown Productions, upstairs at Maui Hands.

Food options include the following:

  • Dibs on da Ribs food truck;
  • Three’s Catering food truck;

Following in the footsteps of Wailuku’s successful “First Friday” event, Maui County partnered with various towns across Maui, including Makawao, for a “Maui Fridays” initiative. The Makawao Friday Town Party schedule started with an inaugural event in the Makawao Town Center on November 18, 2011, and includes monthly themed events scheduled for the third Friday of each month going forward in Makawao Town.
