The flood advisory that was issued for Maui earlier this afternoon has since been cancelled.  The National Weather Service reports that heavy rains have ended, and the advisory has since been cancelled.

Heavy rain near Pukalani has prompted a flood advisory for the island until 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service say radar at around 12:36 p.m. showed heavy rain in Pukalani, about 11 miles southeast of Kahului.

Other locations in the advisory include Kanahā Beach Park, Spreckelsville, Paʻuwela, Pāʻia, Nāhiku, Makawao, Keʻnae, Huelo, Hāliʻimaile, and Haʻikū.

Motorists and pedestrians are reminded not to cross fast flowing or rising water in their vehicle or on foot.

The public is also reminded to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas that are prone to flooding.
