According to the agency publication, the cannon barrel was discovered in a passenger’s checked items, and was unloaded.

TSA officials say you can add it to the “items we don’t see every day” category.  According to the TSA blog, officers had seen cannonballs in the past at other airports, but this is the first cannon that they can recall.

According to the website, the information provided, including weekly highlights from airports across the nation, is shared in an effort to facilitate an ongoing dialogue on innovations in security, technology and the checkpoint screening process.
