Day of Hope Run/Walk to Benefit Maui Cancer Foundation

The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea hosts the 25th Annual Day of Hope 10K Run and 5K Run/Walk this Saturday, Nov. 15, to benefit Maui’s Pacific Cancer Foundation.
Organizers say an estimated 300 to 400 runners and walkers participate in the event each year.
This year’s event will be emceed by Master of Ceremonies, Howard Dashefsky, and will include a live auction featuring packages at various resorts and hotels around the state and abroad.
In addition to the 10K and 5K (which starts at 7 a.m.), there’s also a Keiki Dash planned (at 9:30 a.m.) on Wailea Beach. The organization Locks of Love will be on hand to cut ponytails 10 inches or longer to use in hairpieces and wigs for child cancer treatment patients.
The includes a traditional Hawaiian canoe ceremony along Wailea Beach with a paddle beyond the reef for a memorial dedication to loved ones lost to cancer at 9:40 a.m.
There will also be a continental breakfast for all event participants on the Ocean Front Law. The race starts at 7 a.m. along Wailea Alanui Drive mauka of the hotel.
