Manpower Shortage Results in Missed Trash Route in Kīhei, Wailuku

Residents in some areas of Wailuku and Kīhei on Maui did not have their trashed picked up as scheduled on Friday, Nov. 14, due to a staffing shortage, county officials announced.
The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division, announced that the missed collection affected the following areas:
- Kīhei: The curbside recycling route; Maui Meadows; Keonekai Road; and Puʻu Hoʻolaʻi Street.
- Wailuku: Hawaiian Homes; Waiehu Terrace; Wailuku Country Estates; Ukali and Nukuwai Street; Kanai, Lilihua Place, and Lipo Place; and Kaʻae Road.
Department officials say they expect to have the missed routes picked up on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014.
The department apologized for the inconvenience and thanked the community for their understanding and cooperation.
