Molokai’s Kalei Adolpho will be one of two seniors from the Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team to be honored Saturday — Senior Night — following the team’s final home match against UC Davis at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Hawaii has back-to-back Big West Conference matches this weekend, starting with UC Riverside tonight. But weekend games are, following the UH women’s basketball games.

Sarah Mendoza of Santa Barbara, Calif., is the other senior the team will be honoring for their contributions to the Rainbow Wahine volleyball team.

The ‘Bows (19-6, 11-3 BWC) won a pair of must-win road matches this past weekend. They staved off a furious rally to beat UC Santa Barbara in five sets then on the next night, after dropping the first set, dominated Cal Poly to win in four.

Outside hitter Nikki Taylor made history on Saturday, becoming the first UH player in the rally-scoring error to record a triple-double. Her 10-kill, 10-dig, 11-block performance earned her Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors and also set a personal career high in blocks. Kalei Greeley was rewarded for her efforts as well, earning Freshman of the Week honors after posting two double-doubles this past weekend.

The ‘Bows also returned to the AVCA Top 25 national poll (No. 25) this week after a seven-week hiatus. They also remained at No. 30 in the latest NCAA RPI for the fifth straight week

Adolpho, a two-sport college athlete and 2010 Maui Interscholastic League’s Player Female Athlete of the Year, is second in the Big West in blocks (1.132 bps) behind only teammate Olivia Magill (1.39).

The 6-foot, 1-inch Adolpho decided to take a year off from basketball to focus on volleyball and finishing her psychology degree. She was named the Big West Defender of the Week on Nov. 10 after finishing with a combined 19 blocks and 16 kills when Hawaii split its matches against Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge.

Also, UHFCU will award an iPad Mini at intermission. UH Kids’ Club members will join the players on the court for the pre-match festivities.
