Residents in some areas of Kīhei on Maui did not have their trashed picked up as scheduled on Monday, Dec. 1, due to a staffing shortage, county officials announced.

The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division, announced that the missed collection affected the following areas:

  • Alulike Street; Honuea Place; Honuea Street; Honuhula Place; Honuhula Street; Kaiola Place; and Kenolio Road.

Department officials say they expect to have the missed routes picked up on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014.

The department apologized for the inconvenience and thanked the community for their understanding and cooperation.
