Gas prices on Maui continue to fall with the average price of a gallon of regular gas dropping to $2.89 at Costco in Kahului and $3.86 in Wailuku.

Representatives say prices at the pump are falling everywhere across the US now, not just in Hawaiʻi.
Elaine Beno, with AAA Hawaiʻi attributed the falling prices to an oil glut or excessive supply of oil saying, “Right now, crude oil is priced at about $54 a barrel. The price has been dropping since summer. The price was at about $85 a barrel in October and before that less than $100 a barrel in September. The fall of crude oil prices translates into falling prices at the retail pump.”
AAA Hawaiʻi General Manager Liane Sumida also commented saying, “State average prices continue to drop with Alaska at $3.30 a gallon, California at $2.80, Missouri at $2.15 and Nevada at $2.65… Many motorists will see an average savings of $45 a month, according to economists.”
