Maui Police Urging Sober and Safe Roads for Super Bowl
By Maui Now Staff
The Maui Police Department will be stepping up efforts to prevent drunk driving and other traffic-related risks to keep the public safe during the upcoming Super Bowl weekend.
The department’s Traffic Division will be participating in the national “Fans Don’t let Fans Drive Drunk Campaign” to encourage people to plan ahead for game day to prevent injuries and deaths for themselves and others on the road.
Beginning today and continuing through the weekend, Maui police will be on the lookout for alcohol and drug-impaired drivers, as well as increasing enforcement of speed limits, restrictions on electronic device usage, and seat-belt laws.
Maui police are urging Super Bowl fans to choose to stay sober or designate a sober driver like a friend, taxi, or public transportation option, if they decide to drink alcohol.
