Teen Tagline Contest Announced to Prevent Underage Drinking

Come up with a good tag-line focused on preventing underage drinking and you could be the lucky winner of a brand new GoPro camera.

The County of Maui Department of Housing and Human Concerns is holding a “Tag It” contest now through Mar. 1, 2015, as part of the “Be A Jerk” campaign, which aims to change community environments that lead to underage drinking.

To be eligible, contestants must be 18 years old or younger. The tagline must be one sentence long and communicate the message of preventing underage drinking for youngsters under 21 years old. One entry per person will be accepted. The submission deadline is Sunday, Mar. 1, 2015.

The winning tagline will be determined by popular vote on Facebook (www.facebook.com/BeAJerkMaui) from March 11 to 25, and will be announced at Mayor Alan Arakawa’s Alcohol Awareness Proclamation ceremony on April 1 at the Mayor’s Conference Room on the ninth Floor of the County Building. The winner will also be recognized at the Teen Expo at Queen Ka`ahumanu Center on Saturday, May 2.

To submit a tagline, fill out an entry form at www.beajerkmauicounty.org under “Tag It Contest 2015,” and submit a printed copy to any of the youth centers listed at the bottom of the form.

The contest is being sponsored by the Maui County Underage Drinking Prevention Coalition.
